- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Scheduled Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,640 - $1,730
- Charting System: Epic
- Orientation: 32 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Minimum of 3 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
- Floating: May be asked to float to other intermediate or critical care areas as needed
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience
- Previous travel nurse experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state; pending license may be considered
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic experience required
- Strong experience in neuro stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, telemetry, and cardiac monitoring
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips, including LEVO
- Neuro nursing experience strongly preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Professional, team-oriented approach in all patient care and unit interactions
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality bedside care to intermediate acuity patients with neurological and medical needs
- Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to changes in cardiac rhythm and patient status
- Manage medications and therapies such as insulin drips, heparin protocols, PCA, and vasoactive drips
- Deliver safe care for patients requiring respiratory support, including BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and tracheostomy care
- Support neurological patients with diagnoses such as CVA, seizures, intracranial bleeds, craniotomy recovery, and spinal cord injury
- Perform and maintain IV therapies, blood product administration, central line care, PICC management, and phlebotomy-related tasks as needed
- Collaborate with rapid response and code teams when urgent intervention is needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate clearly using SBAR and unit workflows
- Follow unit expectations, call-off policies, and patient safety standards consistently
- Work closely with the care team to support excellent outcomes in a busy intermediate care environment
