• Duration: 20 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Orientation: Occurs every other Monday
• Scheduling Note: Flexibility is required to meet unit staffing needs; block scheduling is not available
• Holiday Requirement: Must work at least one major holiday during the assignment

Job Requirements

• Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
• 2+ years of experience in Med/Surg, Medical-Surgical, or a relevant nursing specialty
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience in a teaching hospital environment is a plus
• Must be comfortable supporting students and new hires in a collaborative clinical setting
• Ability to work with limited RTO and adapt to census-based scheduling

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate care to Med/Surg patients in a Diabetic Renal Unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor conditions, and respond to changes in status
• Administer medications, treatments, and ordered interventions in accordance with nursing standards
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary care teams, and support staff to coordinate patient care
• Serve in a charge RN capacity when assigned, with appropriate training and differential
• Support a positive learning environment by interacting professionally with students and new hires
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold quality, safety, and patient-centered care practices
• Adapt to unit needs, including census-driven adjustments and weekend scheduling as required
