Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in hand at submission; compact license required
• Minimum of 1 year of PACU or closely related perioperative nursing experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience with Epic preferred
• Ability to care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Strong knowledge of pre-op, PACU, phase II recovery, and outpatient surgical workflows
• Experience with conscious sedation, pain management, discharge education, and post-procedure monitoring preferred
• Comfort working in a fast-paced trauma and surgical environment
• References required during the compliance process prior to start
• Ability to float as needed between nearby sister facilities

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate recovery care for post-anesthesia patients in the PACU
• Monitor vital signs, airway status, pain levels, and overall post-op stability
• Support recovery for a wide range of procedures including vascular, general, orthopedic, pediatric, urology, gynecology, neuro/spine, ENT, plastics, thoracic, trauma, bariatric, and interventional radiology cases
• Perform pre-op and post-op assessments and collaborate with the surgical care team
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Prepare patients and families with discharge instructions and recovery guidance
• Document accurately in Epic and maintain compliance with ASPAN standards
• Work closely with interdisciplinary support teams to promote efficient patient flow
• Adapt quickly to a high-volume surgical environment with daily census demands
