- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860 - $1,960
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Schedule: Shifts may vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- On-Call: 0-3 times per month, including night and weekend/holiday coverage
- Important Note: Candidate must have a Hawaii RN license by the start date
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years as a critical care RN in an ER or ICU hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute
- Active Hawaii RN license required before the assignment begins
- Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
- PALS certification recommended and may be required for some assignments
- Other specialty-related certifications such as NIHSS or TNCC may be preferred or required
- Ability to complete pre-employment requirements, including flu vaccination or approved exception, before contract start
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled PACU nursing care for patients in pre-op, Phase I recovery, and Phase II recovery
- Monitor patients after surgery, including incision sites, temperature, vital signs, and other signs of complications
- Apply advanced post-anesthesia care knowledge to safely manage recovery needs in a busy surgical setting
- Collaborate with the surgical, anesthesia, and perioperative care teams to support high-quality patient outcomes
- Use clinical equipment and systems such as Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair Paws warmers, HP monitors, and Phillips monitors
- Respond to changing patient conditions with sound judgment, strong assessment skills, and timely intervention
