Pediatric PACU travel RN needed in Portland, Oregon, for a 13-week assignment in a high-acuity children’s hospital setting. - Schedule Notes: Variable days Monday-Friday; possible weekend and night call; must cover 2 of 3 winter holidays
- Float: May float as needed based on patient census
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- BLS and PALS certification required
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) experience required
- Experience in pediatric PACU, Phase I PACU, or pediatric ICU strongly preferred
- Strong clinical skills in blood product administration, ventilated patient care, chest tube management, pain management, and dysrhythmia recognition
- Ability to complete travel nurse compliance requirements, references, and background review
- Comfortable caring for pediatric patients from birth through adolescence, with occasional care for older young adults as appropriate
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to pediatric patients recovering from a wide range of procedures
- Monitor patients closely in Phase I PACU, supporting airway management, pain control, and safe recovery
- Assess and respond to pediatric post-op needs including chest tube care, extubation support, dysrhythmia recognition, and emergency interventions as needed
- Maintain a safe, family-centered environment while delivering excellent bedside nursing care
- Collaborate with anesthesia, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to support smooth patient flow and positive outcomes
- Provide care for patients undergoing complex surgical and specialty procedures across multiple service lines
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and documentation standards while using Epic for charting
- Support flexible scheduling needs, including call coverage and holiday rotation
