We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse with NICU experience for a travel nursing job in Lake Forest, Illinois. • Employment Type: Travel RN
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Patient Census: 1-3 patients daily
• Charting: Required; experience with any charting system accepted

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license in hand; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum of 1 year of direct NICU or neonatal nursing experience
• BSN required for some facility settings; ASN or BSN accepted at others within the system
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NRP certification required
• Experience caring for neonates, including infants 29-34 weeks
• Ability to support breastfeeding, feeding assistance, and milk handling
• Experience with isolation precautions and neonatal line care preferred
• Strong charting skills and comfort with standard documentation systems
• Skills checklist and two professional references required for submission

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to neonates in a Special Care Nursery / NICU environment
• Monitor and assess infant condition, responding promptly to changes in patient status
• Administer and manage neonatal treatments and interventions as ordered
• Support feeding plans, including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the charting system
• Assist with central and implanted line care, UAC/UVC management, and respiratory support as needed
• Collaborate with the care team to provide family-centered neonatal care
• Follow infection prevention practices and unit protocols consistently
• May have the opportunity to support both the special care nursery and postpartum couplet care when needed
