Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Setting: Acute care cardiac stepdown / intermediate care
• Location: Bloomington, IL
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week; rotating nights, weekends, and holidays
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Orientation: 2-day orientation
• Unit Size: 32 private rooms
• Patient Ratio: 3-4 patients per nurse
• Charting System: EPIC

Qualifications

• Experience in stepdown, telemetry, cardiac, or acute care settings preferred
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry
• Comfortable caring for patients with chest tubes
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Active RN license eligible for practice in Illinois
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Flexibility to float as needed based on patient care needs

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to adult stepdown patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, recognize changes in patient status, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Care for patients with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, sepsis, diabetes, DKA, renal conditions, pneumonia, and neuro/surgical/cardiac concerns
• Manage common interventions and devices such as BiPAP, CPAP, trachs, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, and dialysis-related care
• Administer medications and document care accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes
• Float to other units as assigned, including ICU for clinicians with extensive ICU experience or general med floors as needed
• Maintain a professional, adaptable approach in a dynamic inpatient acute care environment
