Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) – Travel Nursing Job in Richmond, Virginia

• Location: Richmond, Virginia
• Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must work at least 2 holidays during the contract
• Float Requirement: May float within scope if needed
• Setting: Acute care surgery PCU with adult surgical patients

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years of experience preferred
• Active Virginia RN license or compact license in hand at time of submission
• Epic charting experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, and conscious sedation preferred
• Strong acute care nursing or surgical nursing background preferred
• Ability to work night shifts, every other weekend, and required holidays
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult PCU patients recovering from complex surgical procedures
• Monitor and assess patients with progressive care needs, maintaining safe ratios and timely interventions
• Manage telemetry monitoring, recognize rhythm changes, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Support care for patients with bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, plastic surgery, urology surgery, surgical oncology, HIPEC, flaps, microsurgery, and Whipple procedures
• Perform and assist with interventions including IV starts, bladder irrigation, and other advanced unit procedures as appropriate
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient recovery and discharge planning
• Document accurately in Epic and maintain compliance with facility and unit standards
• Float within scope when needed and contribute to a positive, team-oriented acute care environment
