NICU Registered Nurse – Travel RN Contract in Richmond, Virginia

Overview

We are seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse with strong neonatal clinical skills, Epic charting experience, and a commitment to high-quality patient care. This night-shift nursing position is ideal for a travel nurse who works collaboratively, adapts quickly, and is ready to make a meaningful impact on newborns and their families.

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a compact state, in hand at the time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of NICU nursing experience required
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• BSN preferred
• Ability to care for neonates with complex medical and surgical needs
• Comfort floating within scope as needed
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to neonates in a high-acuity NICU setting
• Monitor, assess, and respond to changing patient conditions with precision and urgency
• Administer medications, blood products, and ordered therapies safely and accurately
• Manage central lines, arterial lines, ventilators, CPAP/HFNC support, and other neonatal equipment
• Support developmental care, thermoregulation, and family education throughout the care process
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, phlebotomy, social services, and other support teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit policies and clinical standards
• Adapt to floating assignments within scope when needed
