- Float Requirement: May float to MSICU as needed

Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of CVICU nursing experience required
- Immediate open-heart post-op experience required
- Active Maryland RN license or compact license at time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, and CPI certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Experience with Epic charting required
- Comfort caring for high-acuity cardiac surgery patients and managing complex hemodynamic conditions
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced ICU environment
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to post-op cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and structural heart cases
- Monitor and manage patients during the first 6 hours post-op, including hemodynamic instability and complex medication support
- Care for patients requiring inotropes, vasoactive drips, mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, CRRT, and IABP
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status using Epic
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, Swan Ganz catheters, postoperative chest care, and ventilator support
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
- Support safe, evidence-based care for cardiac ICU patients with STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and ICU bounce-backs
- Maintain flexibility to float within scope and provide high-quality care wherever needed in the unit
