Travel Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse needed in Mechanicsville, Virginia! Join a supportive 24-bed Surgical/Medical Telemetry unit serving adult and geriatric patients just outside Richmond.

Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel RN / Travel Registered Nurse
• Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (Richmond area)
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and major holidays required
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
• Unit Type: Surgical/Medical Telemetry
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Setting Highlights: Bedside shift report, non-critical drips, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced acute care environment

Job Requirements

• Active Virginia RN license or compact licensure eligibility
• Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
• At least 6 months of acute care hospital experience preferred
• Telemetry nursing experience required, including ability to read and verify rhythm strips
• Surgical nursing experience strongly preferred due to the patient population and surgeon-directed care
• Ability to perform lab draws and peripheral IV insertion with confidence
• BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Ability to pass an EKG exam at orientation
• Comfort working in a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit with changing patient acuity
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for telemetry patients with medical and surgical needs
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret rhythm strips, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Manage patients with non-critical drips, strict intake and output monitoring, and complex post-surgical needs
• Complete bedside shift report and maintain clear communication with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Perform lab draws, peripheral IV insertion, and other routine clinical skills as needed
• Support safe, compassionate care for adult and geriatric patients throughout recovery
• Collaborate with charge nurses, PCTs, and other care team members to promote quality outcomes
• Adapt to a fast-paced telemetry nursing environment while maintaining professionalism, safety, and strong patient advocacy
