Overview

The CVICU RN will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, supporting patients recovering from PCI, bypass surgery, and other advanced cardiac procedures, as well as those managing CHF and related cardiovascular conditions. This travel nursing job is ideal for a Registered Nurse who thrives in high-acuity critical care settings and values collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required
• Recent critical care nursing or CVICU experience preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Open heart surgery experience preferred
• Experience pulling sheaths preferred
• CRRT experience highly preferred
• Experience in a Level II trauma hospital or higher preferred
• Ability to titrate drips in a high-acuity ICU environment
• Strong cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert nursing care to CVICU patients with complex cardiovascular needs
• Monitor and manage post-PCI, post-bypass, and CHF patients
• Titrate drips and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapy, and the care team
• Interpret telemetry strips and support safe, timely clinical decision-making
• Assist with advanced cardiac procedures and post-procedure recovery care
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the charting system
• Maintain a calm, professional presence in a fast-paced ICU setting
