Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of recent CVICU or open heart critical care experience required
• First-time travelers may be considered with strong CVICU or open heart experience
• Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license at the time of submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Comfortable caring for post-cardiac surgery patients and managing complex critical care needs
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced ICU environment
• Must be willing to float within scope as needed

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for immediate post-op cardiac surgery patients, including CABG and valve procedures
• Monitor and manage critically ill patients with diagnoses such as STEMI, NSTEMI, atrial fibrillation with RVR, cardiogenic shock, and vascular conditions
• Perform advanced cardiac critical care interventions, including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Support ventilator management in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, Swan Ganz catheters, IABP, Impella, FloTrac, CRRT, and related equipment
• Assist with chest tube care, blood product administration, and post-procedure monitoring
• Closely assess patients during the first 12 hours post-op, including 1:1 care when indicated
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes for every patient
