Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to provide safe, effective nursing care to a diverse adult patient population
• Flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts and float to other units or patient care areas as operational needs require
• Commitment to professional nursing standards, teamwork, and patient-centered care

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout the care continuum
• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to established standards
• Monitor for changes in patient status and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate members of the healthcare team
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, patients, and families to support positive patient outcomes
• Document assessments, nursing interventions, responses to treatment, and care transitions accurately
• Promote patient education, comfort, safety, and participation in the plan of care
• Adapt to changing census and staffing needs, including floating to other units or patient care areas when requested
