Travel Nurse Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Contract Dates: October 26, 2026 – January 25, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,700–$2,850
• Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse
• Healthcare Setting: Onsite cardiac and general operating room environment serving adult and geriatric patients
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
• Shifts: Five shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
• Call: Approximately every third day, including weekday overnight call from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. and 48-hour weekend call as scheduled; approximately 1–2 weekends per month
• Additional Scheduling: Weekend and holiday coverage as needed; flexibility to assist in the General OR when CVOR cases are not scheduled

CVOR RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent CVOR or operating room nursing experience
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Recent Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric surgical patients
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular, thoracic, and general operating room workflows
• Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, specimen handling, surgical counts, and universal surgical protocols
• Ability to participate in scheduled call coverage and support General OR assignments when needed
• Willingness to work in a tobacco-free and fragrance-free clinical environment

CVOR Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing complex cardiac and thoracic procedures
• Support CVOR cases including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacement, MAZE procedures, aortic and vascular repairs, thoracotomy, lung resection, and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS)
• Assist with procedures involving intra-aortic balloon pumps, femoral cannulation, endovascular repairs, and other advanced cardiovascular surgical interventions
• Prepare the operating room, surgical equipment, supplies, and patient care environment before each procedure
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team throughout the perioperative process
• Maintain strict sterile technique and comply with infection control, radiation safety, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
• Accurately complete surgical counts, specimen labeling, clinical documentation, and Epic charting
• Provide timely communication, patient advocacy, and clinical support during scheduled call assignments
• Assist with General OR cases when CVOR volume is low, according to department needs and competency
