Join a dedicated acute-care team as a Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) in Marquette, Michigan. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers the opportunity to care for adult and geriatric patients in a supportive specialty-care environment while exploring Michigan's scenic Upper Peninsula. Marquette, the largest community in the peninsula, provides access to Lake Superior, outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and Northern Michigan University.

• Schedule: Occasional floating to a like unit may be required
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 5:1 to 6:1
• Charting System: Cerner
• Unit Equipment: Telemetry monitors, IV pumps, enteral feeding pumps, bladder scanners, and vital-sign monitoring equipment

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan; candidates must already hold an active Michigan nursing license
• At least 2 years of acute-care Registered Nurse experience, preferably in a medical-surgical nursing setting
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Bachelor's degree in nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Strong critical-thinking, assessment, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently, remain composed in a fast-paced acute-care environment, and take appropriate clinical action
• Professional appearance and compliance with clinical dress and hand-hygiene standards

Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate clinical outcomes
• Monitor telemetry and patient status, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with providers, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document patient assessments and care accurately in Cerner
• Prioritize care effectively while managing multiple patients and competing clinical needs
• Float occasionally to a comparable unit as needed
• Participate in rotating weekend coverage while maintaining a high standard of compassionate patient care
