Travel RN Job Details

• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Ratios: Approximately 5:1 to 6:1
• Charting System: Cerner
• Float Expectations: Occasional floating to a similar unit
• Dress Code: Galaxy blue or navy scrubs

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent registered nursing experience, preferably in an acute care medical-surgical setting
• Current Michigan RN license held prior to assignment start
• Current ACLS certification
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
• Strong critical-thinking, clinical assessment, and patient-care skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and take appropriate action in stressful situations
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Commitment to safe patient care, infection prevention, and professional nursing practice standards

Medical-Surgical Travel RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
• Perform nursing assessments, monitor patient conditions, and identify changes requiring intervention
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Provide telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
• Manage IV therapy using infusion pumps and support other unit-based clinical technologies
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge needs
• Accurately document nursing care and patient outcomes in Cerner
• Prioritize care for multiple patients while maintaining quality, safety, and compassion
• Float occasionally to a comparable unit and support team operations as needed
