Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,070-$2,180

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour evening/night shifts
• Shift Options: 3:00 p.m.-3:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.-7:30 a.m.; 8-hour shifts may be needed based on department requirements
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Department Profile: High-acuity Emergency Department with approximately 200 visits per day and comprehensive specialty support
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Required on a rotating basis
• Floating: May be required to another Emergency Department within the health system
• Orientation: 20 hours
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of Emergency Department or Emergency Room RN experience caring for both adult and pediatric patients within the past 3 years
• Valid Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Current TNCC certification
• Recent Epic charting experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
• Ability to care for patients in a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department
• Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Successful completion of a required telemetry assessment before clearance to begin
• Applicants must reside more than 50 miles from the assignment location
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred

Emergency Room RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and evidence-based emergency nursing care across a broad range of patient populations and acuity levels
• Perform emergency assessments, triage, prioritization, reassessment, and ongoing patient monitoring
• Recognize and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms, respiratory status, neurological condition, and hemodynamic stability
• Care for patients experiencing trauma, stroke, STEMI, respiratory emergencies, behavioral health crises, overdose, burns, sepsis, and multisystem conditions
• Manage ventilated patients, chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, blood products, and emergency medications
• Support airway management, intubation, emergency resuscitation, and other advanced emergency procedures within scope of practice
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, care plans, and patient outcomes in Epic
• Maintain a calm, compassionate, and professional approach while caring for patients and families during urgent and life-threatening situations
• Float as needed and adapt quickly to changing department priorities
