• Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,070–$2,180
• Schedule: Evening/night coverage, including 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Shift Times: Approximately 3:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; 8-hour shifts may be required as needed
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Rotating coverage required
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Emergency Department Environment: High-acuity emergency department with trauma, cardiac, stroke, burn, transplant, oncology, and critical-care services
• Floating: May be required to an affiliated emergency department
• Local Candidate Policy: Candidates residing within 50 miles of the assignment location are not eligible

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience caring for both adult and pediatric patients within the past 3 years
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Current TNCC certification
• Recent experience in a high-acuity, Level II trauma environment; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Epic electronic health record experience required
• Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Ability to care for patients requiring emergency medications, ventilatory support, procedural sedation, invasive lines, trauma interventions, and behavioral health precautions
• Successful completion of a pre-start telemetry examination, including adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
• Ability to meet all travel assignment compliance, orientation, and testing requirements

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and compassionate emergency nursing care to patients ranging from neonates to older adults
• Perform comprehensive assessments, triage, prioritization, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring of patients with a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions
• Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, STEMI, stroke, respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, overdose, burns, seizures, and other life-threatening conditions
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, sedation, and continuous infusions according to clinical standards
• Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, BiPAP/CPAP, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and other advanced interventions
• Support trauma, resuscitation, high-risk pediatric, and critical-care response teams
• Perform and interpret 12-lead ECGs and identify life-threatening cardiac rhythms
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Document care accurately in Epic while maintaining compliance with policies, safety standards, and emergency nursing best practices
• Float to an affiliated emergency department and support changing department needs as requested
