Travel Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Location: Spokane, Washington
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,790–$1,880
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours weekly
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Scheduling: Block scheduling; weekends required at least every other weekend
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Unit Environment: Medical-surgical care with medical admissions and postoperative patients
• Electronic Health Record: Epic
• Float Expectations: May float between units or nearby affiliated facilities based on operational needs

Med/Surg Travel RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or a compact license held in good standing
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, clinical judgment, and time-management skills
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients in an acute-care hospital setting
• Comfort with electronic nursing documentation; Epic experience is preferred
• Ability to work night shifts, block schedules, weekends, and applicable holidays
• Ability to provide two professional references covering at least 1 year of recent nursing experience

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes
• Manage patients with internal medicine diagnoses and postoperative conditions, including orthopedic, abdominal, urologic, and general surgical cases
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, insulin protocols, and other treatments according to provider orders and hospital policy
• Care for patients with central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound vacs, ostomies, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Monitor respiratory status and provide oxygen therapy, including nasal cannula and high-flow nasal cannula support as appropriate
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly, including activation of rapid response or code teams when indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy services, respiratory care, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, recovery, discharge planning, and ongoing care needs
• Float between units when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
• Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation in Epic
