Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200–$2,320
• Location: Springfield, Illinois
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: November 23, 2026
• End Date: February 22, 2027
• Shifts per Week: 3
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.; weekend coverage required
• Call: Approximately one call shift per week
• Orientation: 40 hours, including a virtual first day
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Local Candidate Requirement: Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the assignment location

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of recent operating room nursing or perioperative nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, active or in the application process according to assignment timelines
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• CNOR certification required
• Level I trauma experience required
• Strong general operating room and trauma nursing experience required
• Experience with Cerner preferred
• Ability to work across surgical service lines, excluding cardiovascular cases
• Required case experience includes general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, transplant, urology, and trauma
• Proficiency with laparoscopic-assisted cases, microvascular free flap procedures, organ donation, and complex trauma cases
• Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia, code response, fire safety, latex allergy precautions, radiation safety, infection control, and universal time-out procedures
• Experience with blood product administration, specimen handling and labeling, urinary catheterization, electrosurgical units, fiber-optic light sources, and Hana tables

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience.
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled and emergent procedures.
• Support circulating nurse and scrub nurse functions within demonstrated competency and department standards.
• Provide care for patients undergoing abdominal, orthopedic, neurological, plastic, transplant, urological, and trauma procedures.
• Apply strong clinical judgment during high-acuity cases, including multiple-injury motor vehicle accidents, amputations, and penetrating trauma.
• Maintain strict infection prevention, specimen management, radiation safety, and universal protocol standards.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies, including malignant hyperthermia, fire events, latex reactions, and code situations.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technicians, and interdisciplinary support teams to promote excellent patient outcomes.
• Float within the nurse’s demonstrated skill set and support operational needs when required.
• Participate in required call coverage, weekend scheduling, orientation, and pre-start learning activities.
