Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,050–$2,160

• Location: Upper Marlboro, Maryland, in the Washington, D.C., metro area
• Healthcare Setting: Level II Trauma Center
• Start Date: October 26, 2026, or as soon as possible
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
• Shift: Mid-days, 10:45 a.m. – 11:15 p.m.; 36 hours per week
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Call: Approximately 5–6 call shifts per 4-week period, including one weekend call; response within 30 minutes when called in
• Weekends and Holidays: Rotational weekend coverage and holidays as scheduled, including applicable call responsibilities
• Floating: May be required within the specialty and to a nearby sister campus as needed

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of submission
• At least 3 years of operating room nursing experience; candidates with 2 years may be considered if they have strong, relevant experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred; CNOR and NIHSS preferred
• Recent Epic experience required
• Strong general operating room experience with the ability to scrub and circulate
• Robotic surgery experience required, including familiarity with da Vinci surgical systems
• Experience supporting a broad surgical case mix, including trauma, urology, podiatry, orthopedics, plastics, neurology, gynecology, ENT, thoracic, vascular, cardiac, bariatric, and general surgery
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced perioperative environment and float within scope when needed
• First-time travel nurses are welcome with strong general OR and robotics experience

Operating Room Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Scrub and circulate for complex general, trauma, robotic, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, cardiac, thoracic, gynecologic, urologic, and other surgical procedures
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, supplies, and specialty technology for scheduled procedures
• Maintain sterile technique, complete surgical counts, handle specimens appropriately, and follow universal protocol and infection-control standards
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes
• Support emergency and trauma cases, including rapid room turnover and response to urgent surgical needs
• Operate and assist with advanced equipment and technology, including robotic surgical systems, cell saver, electrosurgical units, and specialty orthopedic equipment
• Provide on-call coverage, respond promptly when called in, and participate in rotational weekend and holiday scheduling
• Float within the operating room specialty and to a nearby sister campus according to departmental needs
