Travel ICU RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
• Location: Peru, Illinois
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care intensive care unit
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• End Date: January 11, 2027
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights
• Unit: 8-bed ICU with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2; assignments may increase to 1:3 based on acuity and overflow needs
• Weekend and Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Floating: Medical-surgical units in Peru and Ottawa as needed
• Orientation: Two shifts
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Call Requirement: None

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license, or confirmation that the Illinois license application has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated competency in central line care and arterial line management
• Experience caring for patients requiring ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, or heated high-flow oxygen
• Ability to titrate critical-care medications, including Cardizem, propofol, amiodarone, norepinephrine, and Precedex
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills

Travel ICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adults in an acute-care ICU
• Monitor and manage patients with sepsis, ARDS, acute respiratory failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, overdose, behavioral health medical complexities, and complex postoperative conditions
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Safely administer and titrate vasoactive, sedative, antiarrhythmic, and other critical-care infusions according to orders and clinical protocols
• Manage central lines, arterial lines, mechanical ventilation, and other advanced critical-care equipment
• Respond effectively to cardiac arrests and apply current American Heart Association guidelines
• Collaborate with hospitalists, critical-care physicians, respiratory therapists, supervisors, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and promote safe transitions of care
• Provide safe, compassionate care during floating assignments to medical-surgical units when needed
