Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• End Date: January 11, 2027
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, typically 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit: Adult Cardiac Intermediate Care/CVICU setting with 20 private, monitored beds
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3, with ratios up to 1:4 based on acuity and patient population
• Weekend Requirement: Every other to every third weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call Requirement: None
• Charting System: Epic

CVICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or an active Illinois license application in progress
• At least 2 years of recent CVICU, cardiac ICU, or comparable high-acuity cardiovascular nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• CCRN or PCCN certification is a plus
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and cardiovascular assessment skills
• Demonstrated ability to titrate vasoactive, sedative, analgesic, insulin, anticoagulant, and antihypertensive infusions
• Ability to care for ventilated and tracheostomy patients and manage advanced cardiovascular monitoring
• Ability to float across levels of care and assume a full patient assignment, including floating from stepdown to ICU when needed
• Excellent communication, organization, critical thinking, teamwork, and time-management skills

CVICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult cardiac and cardiovascular intermediate-care patients, including post-ICU transfers and complex cardiac procedure patients
• Care for patients with heart failure, TAVR, ablation, Watchman, MitraClip, Micra, and other advanced cardiac procedure histories
• Monitor and manage patients with Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, central venous catheters, PICC lines, and midlines
• Assess and manage temporary external pacemakers, IABPs, ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high-flow oxygen therapy
• Titrate medications such as dopamine, dobutamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, phenylephrine, vasopressin, clevidipine, propofol, fentanyl, midazolam, insulin, heparin, and esmolol according to protocols and provider orders
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms using Philips monitoring systems and promptly recognize changes in patient condition
• Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, monitor technicians, patient care technicians, and interdisciplinary team members
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow established safety, infection-control, and clinical protocols
• Demonstrate calm, compassionate, and organized performance in a high-stress, fast-paced cardiovascular care environment
