Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,070–$2,180
• Start Date: October 4, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 1, 2027
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Unit: 45-bed medical-surgical unit
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Charting System: Epic
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse assignment

Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Maine
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred, especially for caring for pediatric patients admitted to the general unit
• Strong intravenous therapy, telemetry monitoring, patient assessment, and clinical documentation skills
• Experience using Epic electronic medical records preferred
• Ability to float to other appropriate units as needed
• Patient-focused, organized, professional, and team-oriented approach

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients, including those with orthopedic, general surgery, and urologic needs
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pneumonia
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, administer medications, monitor clinical status, and promptly communicate changes in condition
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to telemetry findings
• Initiate and maintain intravenous therapy using infusion pumps and other unit equipment
• Complete accurate and timely patient documentation in Epic
• Deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining medical-surgical unit standards
• Collaborate with physicians, therapy teams, ancillary services, patients, and families to support positive patient outcomes
• Float to designated areas when needed and participate in every-other-weekend coverage
