Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Highlands, NC

Travel RN Job Details

• Specialty: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
• Location: Highlands, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,640–$1,730
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts, including days and nights; seasonal mid-shift coverage may be needed
• Contract: 13 weeks, from September 15, 2026 through December 15, 2026
• Department: 7-bed Emergency Department
• Patient Care Environment: Standard emergency department procedures with patient ratios guided by ENA recommendations
• Documentation: Cerner electronic medical record
• Weekend Schedule: Rotating weekends
• Call: No regular call; occasional coverage may be requested during periods of low volume
• Additional Details: Limited floating to medical-surgical areas may occur based on department needs

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, preferably in an Emergency Department or Emergency Room setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Emergency care experience and strong patient assessment skills
• TNCC, ENPC, or NRP certification preferred
• CEN, CPEN, or CTRN certification preferred
• Ability to provide professional, customer-service-focused care in a fast-paced emergency care environment

Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting with emergent and urgent medical conditions
• Deliver safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care throughout the emergency visit
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and department standards
• Assist with standard emergency department procedures and patient stabilization
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing colleagues, and ancillary teams
• Provide clear patient and family education while maintaining a customer-service-focused approach
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and dispositions in Cerner
• Support emergency department operations during variable patient volumes and rotating shifts
