CVOR Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse
• Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,320–$2,450
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 11, 2027
• Schedule: 4 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 10-hour day shifts, 6:15 a.m.–4:45 p.m.
• Call Schedule: Two call days per week and every third weekend
• Patient Assignment: 1:1 ratio
• Clinical Volume: Approximately 6 visits per day across 3 operating rooms
• Float Expectation: May float to the main OR on the same campus when CVOR volume is low
• Orientation: 24 hours, based on experience
• Scrubs: Provided in blue

CVOR Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional nursing experience
• Recent Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience required
• Registered Nurse license eligible to practice in North Carolina or through a Compact state
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Recent experience with ECMO and Impella required
• Experience scrubbing cardiovascular procedures strongly preferred
• Experience with CABG, valve replacement, aortic procedures, carotid surgery, thoracic surgery, TAVR, and laser lead extractions is highly valued
• Epic documentation experience preferred
• First-time travel nurses are welcome with the required CVOR specialty experience
• Must be willing to participate in emergency, storm, hurricane, mass-casualty, or disaster-response staffing when needed

CVOR Nursing Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, medications, and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases
• Support procedures including CABG, AVR, MVR, TVR, aortic dissection repair, TAVR, aortic root procedures, carotid surgery, pericardial windows, ECMO, and Impella cases
• Provide scrub and circulating support according to department needs and individual competency
• Monitor patients closely, anticipate surgical team needs, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and interdisciplinary support services to promote excellent patient outcomes
• Complete accurate clinical documentation in Epic and communicate effectively using SBAR
• Participate in call coverage, weekend rotation, floating, and emergency response assignments as scheduled
