Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Los Alamos, New Mexico

Join a collaborative surgical services team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Los Alamos, New Mexico. This 13-week, on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide perioperative care to patients across the lifespan. Travel RN Job Details

• Specialty: Operating Room / Surgery Nursing
• Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200–$2,310
• Assignment Dates: October 6, 2026–January 5, 2027
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
• Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, with 36 weekly guaranteed hours
• Call: As needed; typically 10–11 days per month, with the potential for 15–16 days per month when staffing is limited
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend or as needed
• Unit Environment: 3 operating rooms, 3 PACU bays, and 5 pre-op bays
• Patient Population: Patients of all ages
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
• Travel Requirement: Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the assignment location to be considered for the travel rate

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in New Mexico
• At least 2 years of operating room or surgical services nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and HWC certifications at submission
• Experience caring for adult and pediatric patients is strongly preferred
• Ability to float to pre-op as needed
• Willingness to participate in required call and weekend coverage
• New Mexico fingerprinting and background-check requirements must be completed before or during onboarding
• Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
• Travel nursing experience is a plus but not required

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the perioperative process
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, supplies, and patients for surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, PACU staff, and other members of the care team
• Support circulating and other operating room responsibilities within the nurse's scope of practice and experience
• Monitor patients, anticipate clinical needs, and promote a safe surgical environment
• Complete accurate documentation using CQI and Medhost electronic systems
• Provide care in the operating room, PACU, and pre-op areas as assigned
• Maintain compliance with applicable clinical, safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards
• Participate in scheduled call, weekend coverage, and other department needs as required
