• Uniform: Navy scrub top and bottom
• Local Candidate Restriction: Candidates residing within 50 miles may not be eligible for this travel nursing assignment.

Travel Medical-Surgical RN Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of submission; a compact license may be accepted when applicable.
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) documentation; experience with any charting system is acceptable.
• Proficiency in medical-surgical nursing practices, rapid response and code team support, peripheral line care, oxygen administration, nasal cannula use, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions/PPE.
• Ability to complete required core compliance items and laboratory requirements within 48 hours of contract signing.
• All requested time off must be disclosed at the time of submission.

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult patients on a general medical-surgical unit.
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate clinical progress.
• Care for patients with stroke/TIA, urinary tract infections, sepsis, pneumonia, weakness, unsteady gait, and isolation needs.
• Administer medications and treatments according to orders, policies, and current nursing standards.
• Monitor changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate care team.
• Support rapid response and code team interventions when needed.
• Perform peripheral line care and management, oxygen therapy, nasal cannula support, and non-invasive airway management.
• Use appropriate infection prevention practices and personal protective equipment for patients requiring isolation precautions.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with providers, therapists, support staff, patients, and families to promote quality outcomes and safe transitions of care.
