Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,470–$2,600
• Assignment Type: 13-week Labor & Delivery travel nursing assignment
• Location: Ellsworth, Maine
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 23, 2027
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Scheduling: Every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday rotation; no call requirement
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2 laboring, 1:1 active labor, 1:3–4 couplets, and 1:2–3 medical-surgical overflow patients
• Charting: Cerner
• Orientation: General hospital orientation plus one unit orientation shift
• Floating: May assist the Medical-Surgical or Emergency Department teams with tasks only; no patient assignment required

Labor & Delivery Travel Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Maine
• At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Travel nurses new to assignment work should have at least 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
• STABLE certification required within 30 days of the start date
• Recent experience in all phases of LDRP care, including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, couplet care, and well-newborn care
• Comfort caring for low-risk patients and supporting patients with postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, HELLP, neonatal abstinence syndrome, hypoglycemia, and hyperbilirubinemia
• Ability to provide care in a rooming-in model without a dedicated nursery nurse
• Professional appearance and attire; any professional scrub color is acceptable

LDRP Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care throughout the labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum continuum
• Manage laboring patients, including fetal monitoring, epidural management, nitrous oxide support as requested, and intrathecal spinal analgesia
• Recognize and respond to obstetric complications such as shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, and HELLP syndrome
• Care for postpartum patients and newborns in a couplet and rooming-in model
• Perform newborn assessments and provide care related to vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia, bilirubin management, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
• Assist with cesarean deliveries by receiving newborns and providing neonatal care; circulating is not required at this time
• Provide care for medical-surgical overflow patients when needed, including patients receiving IV antibiotics, swing-bed care, or rehabilitation services
• Collaborate with midwives, physicians, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, phlebotomy, and other members of the care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Cerner
