Telemetry RN Travel Job Details

• Location: Petersburg, Virginia
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
• Schedule: Days, 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Average Hours: 36 hours per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Cardiac telemetry and acute care
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Weekend and Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and major holidays
• Typical Assignment Ratio: Approximately 1:4; ratios may vary based on patient care needs
• Additional Scheduling Note: Floating to other medical-surgical units may be required

Telemetry Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a valid compact-state RN license
• At least 1 year of recent acute care RN experience
• At least 1 year of travel nursing or travel nurse experience
• Recent cardiac telemetry nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications
• Successful completion of an EKG examination during orientation; study materials are available
• EPIC electronic health record experience preferred
• Ability to care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips, oxygen therapy, chest tubes, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ability to work on-site, manage changing priorities, and provide safe nursing care in a high-acuity acute care environment
• This travel nursing opportunity is intended for candidates who reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location

Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing nursing assessments of cardiac telemetry and acute care patients
• Develop, implement, prioritize, and evaluate individualized nursing plans of care
• Monitor patients with atrial fibrillation, heart failure exacerbations, post-stroke conditions, and pre- or post-cardiac catheterization needs
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly using sound clinical judgment
• Administer medications and manage therapies according to current standards of practice and applicable policies
• Safely administer and monitor non-titratable infusions such as amiodarone, diltiazem, nitroglycerin, and heparin
• Provide care for patients with peripheral IVs, telemetry monitoring, oxygen therapy, and other clinical devices
• Monitor hemodynamic status and manage chest tubes, temporary pacing, and other advanced cardiac care needs as assigned
• Coordinate patient care with providers, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, medications, disease management, and recovery goals
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, privacy, and quality improvement throughout the care process
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record and communicate patient status during handoff
