Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department Registered Nurse experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, critical thinking, and emergency response skills
• Compassionate, empathetic, adaptable, and team-oriented approach to patient care

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to patients presenting with emergent and urgent medical conditions
• Perform focused patient assessments, initiate nursing interventions, and continuously evaluate patient responses
• Prioritize care for multiple patients in a high-volume Emergency Department environment
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes requiring immediate intervention
• Perform IV starts, blood draws, medication administration, and other essential emergency nursing procedures
• Assist with moderate sedation and time-sensitive emergency treatments as directed by the care team
• Operate and monitor equipment including IV pumps, cardiac monitors, ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, rapid infusers, and portable EKG machines
• Collaborate effectively with providers, paramedics, support staff, patients, and families
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in Meditech
• Support a positive, respectful, and team-centered Emergency Department culture
