Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
• Location: Kankakee, Illinois
• Unit: 22-bed Cardiac Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
• Assignment: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• End Date: February 15, 2027
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call Requirement: None
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
• Charting: EPIC
• Scrubs: Caribbean-colored scrubs

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, in hand at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of recent acute-care, progressive-care, or cardiac stepdown nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Recent EPIC experience
• Valid driver's license
• Experience interpreting cardiac telemetry and caring for cardiac stepdown patients
• Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred; first-time travelers are welcome to apply

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 22-bed cardiac stepdown/IMCU unit
• Care for patients with cardiac conditions, post-open-heart recovery needs, cardiac catheterization procedures, pacemakers, Watchman procedures, and other progressive-care diagnoses
• Monitor and care for patients requiring chest tubes, tracheostomies, continuous CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Titrate and monitor medications including Cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin for blood pressure management, insulin, heparin, dopamine, and dobutamine according to clinical orders and policy
• Perform focused assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Read and document cardiac telemetry while partnering with centralized telemetry monitoring support
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EPIC
• Float to the ICU for PCU-level assignments or to medical-surgical units when needed
• Support safe patient care, effective communication, and a team-centered environment during nights, weekends, and holidays
