ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 based on acuity and care needs

• Floating: May float to the intermediate care unit (IMU)
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Attire: Royal blue scrubs

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
• At least 1 year of recent intensive care unit (ICU) nursing experience
• Demonstrated experience caring for patients receiving mechanical ventilation
• Recent experience managing cardiovascular medication drips
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet the scheduled weekend requirement
• Neurocritical care experience preferred
• Comfort working with high-acuity patients and adapting to changing patient ratios

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in a 30-bed ICU
• Monitor and manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation and cardiovascular medication infusions
• Perform ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with clinical standards and provider orders
• Assist with and support procedures including thoracentesis, arterial line placement, and central line placement
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Deliver individualized patient and family education throughout the care process
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in Meditech
• Float to the IMU when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
