Join a new acute inpatient behavioral health hospital in Moosic, Pennsylvania, as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week travel nursing assignment. Support adult and geriatric patients experiencing mental health, behavioral health, substance use, and addiction-related disorders while working near the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre metro area.

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,640–$1,730
• Location: Moosic, Pennsylvania
• Healthcare Setting: Acute inpatient behavioral health hospital
• Assignment Dates: October 12, 2026 – January 10, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13-week travel nursing assignment
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: As assigned
• Patient Population: Adults through geriatric patients, with adolescent services anticipated to open during the assignment
• Orientation: 3–5 days, including de-escalation training
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic, with paper charting for restraint events
• Medication System: Omnicell with on-site pharmacy support
• Uniform: Gray scrubs

Psychiatric RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Active Pennsylvania RN license at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of recent behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including assigned weekends and holidays
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and patient safety skills
• Experience caring for patients with mental health, behavioral health, substance use, and addiction-related disorders

Psychiatric Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in an acute inpatient behavioral health environment
• Complete psychiatric and nursing assessments, monitor changes in condition, and communicate clinical concerns to the treatment team
• Administer medications safely and accurately using established protocols and the Omnicell medication system
• Support patients experiencing psychiatric symptoms, behavioral challenges, substance use disorders, and addiction-related concerns
• Use therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to promote a safe care environment
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Epic and complete required paper documentation for restraint events
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to implement individualized treatment plans
• Promote patient dignity, safety, recovery, and continuity of care throughout the travel nursing assignment
