• Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950–$2,060
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• End Date: January 11, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Schedule: Night shifts; three 12-hour shifts per week
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday; holiday coverage is required
• Openings: 3
• Additional Details: Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible.

Medical-Surgical Travel RN Requirements

• At least 1 year of registered nursing experience
• Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Acute-care hospital experience preferred
• Current RN license in the state of practice or eligibility under a compact license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before providing direct patient care
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination during orientation
• Orthopedic nursing experience preferred
• BSN and specialty certifications such as CMSRN, RN-BC, PCCN, CCRN, or NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to safely assist with patient mobility and perform the physical demands of bedside nursing

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments for assigned patients
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and update individualized nursing care plans
• Administer medications safely and monitor patients for therapeutic response or adverse reactions
• Prioritize care and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns appropriately
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment, recovery, discharge, and continuing care needs
• Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, case management, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Act as a patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Support patients and families as they cope with illness, treatment, and transitions in care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, responses, and outcomes in the medical record
• Delegate and assign patient care activities according to staff competency, scope of practice, and patient needs
• Protect patient privacy, promote cultural inclusion, and maintain professional accountability
