Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) travel nursing contract in Lewiston, Maine, providing inpatient pediatric behavioral health care. Join an inpatient behavioral health team serving children and adolescents ages 6–18. In this on-site role, you will provide compassionate, structured psychiatric nursing care for patients experiencing conditions such as major depression and ADD/ADHD while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Psychiatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of previous nursing experience required
• Previous psychiatric, behavioral health, or inpatient nursing experience preferred
• Associate Degree in Nursing required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maine required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Nonviolent crisis intervention or CPI training required
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and manage stressful situations effectively
• Ability to work independently, remain productive during downtime, and contribute as a dependable team member
• Must be willing to float to chemical dependency or detox services as needed
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location
• Successful completion of required license and background verification

Behavioral Health RN Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients on an inpatient behavioral health unit
• Administer medications safely and educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and medications
• Monitor patient behaviors, assess changes in condition, and promote a safe therapeutic environment
• Complete timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses
• Collaborate with providers, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
• Participate in and lead patient education and therapeutic groups
• Use effective communication and de-escalation techniques when supporting patients in crisis
• Maintain a consistent, supportive presence while helping patients develop coping and self-management skills
• Float to chemical dependency or detox services when required by operational needs
