This opportunity is ideal for an experienced critical care nurse who is confident caring for critically ill adults, managing complex therapies, and collaborating across intensive care and progressive care settings. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 30, 2026
- End Date: January 29, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Call: Not required
- Floating: PCU, other ICUs, and an additional campus as needed
- Patient Ratios: Stepdown assignments typically 3:1; ICU assignments generally 1:1 or 2:1, with occasional 3:1 assignments for lower-acuity patients awaiting transfer
- Charting System: Epic
MICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Connecticut; candidates should allow approximately 15–21 business days for initial Connecticut licensure
- At least 2 years of recent MICU, ICU, or critical care nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience is not required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience caring for patients with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, liver or renal failure, post-cardiac-arrest conditions, and gastrointestinal bleeding
- Ability to work night shifts, every other weekend, and float between critical care and progressive care units as needed
- Strong patient assessment, communication, prioritization, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and progressive-care adult patients in the MICU, ICU, and Stepdown settings
- Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly
- Manage ventilated patients, arterial lines, central lines, continuous IV sedation, and complex critical-care therapies
- Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias appropriately
- Care for patients experiencing multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
- Maintain isolation precautions and follow infection-prevention and personal protective equipment protocols
- Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, PCAs, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support safe patient outcomes
- Float to PCU, other ICUs, and the additional campus when staffing needs require
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
