Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230
• Location: Youngstown, Ohio
• Healthcare Setting: Inpatient Operating Room / Surgical Services
• Assignment: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 5, 2026
• End Date: January 4, 2027
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour shifts
• Shift: Days and afternoons
• Call: Typically 6–8 call shifts per 6-week period
• Typical Surgical Volume: Approximately 25–40 surgical cases per day
• Interview Process: Dysrhythmia examination, screening, and final manager interview

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio or a compact-eligible state
• At least 1 year of professional RN experience; operating room, perioperative nursing, or surgical services experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and NIH certification required
• Successful completion of the required dysrhythmia examination
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practice, sterile technique, infection prevention, and patient safety
• Ability to provide care for patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
• Excellent communication, organization, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a high-acuity, fast-paced operating room environment
• CNOR certification, perioperative internship completion, and experience with orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, or vascular procedures are preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, patient positioning, pushing equipment, and lifting with assistance as needed

Operating Room Nursing Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing assessments.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care using the nursing process.
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Prepare the operating room, patient, equipment, and supplies while maintaining aseptic technique.
• Assist with gowning and draping, surgical positioning, equipment setup, and anticipated procedural needs.
• Monitor the surgical environment and personnel for adherence to sterile-field, infection-control, and patient-safety standards.
• Assist anesthesia professionals during induction and emergence and respond effectively to changes in the patient’s condition.
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and scope of practice.
• Perform or assist with procedures such as IV insertion, catheter placement, Foley insertion, and surgical preparation.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, procedures, medications, specimens, and outcomes.
• Provide patient and family education, including postoperative instructions and support for coping with illness or surgery.
• Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and advocate for patient privacy, dignity, comfort, and safety.
• Provide call coverage as scheduled and collaborate with the team to support efficient surgical care.
