This 13-week, on-site Pennsylvania travel nursing assignment is ideal for an experienced Neuro ICU RN who is confident managing critically ill patients and advanced neurological therapies, including external ventricular drains, intracranial pressure monitoring, CRRT, post-craniotomy care, and ventilator management.

ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: York, Pennsylvania
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,100
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Shifts per Week: 3
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Schedule Considerations: Holiday coverage as needed and one hardship shift may be required during the assignment
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Unit Setting: 10-bed Neuroscience ICU with an approximate daily census of 10

Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Neuro ICU or neuroscience intensive care experience
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications from AHA or ARC; ENLS is preferred
• Epic electronic medical record experience required
• Strong experience with EVD management, ICP monitoring, post-angiogram care, CRRT, carotid procedures, and embolization procedures
• Ability to care for high-acuity stroke, neurosurgical, neurological, and medical overflow patients
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
• Willingness to float to other intensive care or acute care units as needed, including a potential three-patient assignment in med-surg
• Availability to work two of three major holiday periods during the assignment; no more than one holiday off may be requested
• Time-off requests should be limited to a maximum of 7 days

Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to critically ill stroke, neurosurgical, neurological, and medical overflow patients
• Monitor and manage patients with external ventricular drains, lumbar drains, intracranial pressure monitoring, and complex neurological conditions
• Provide post-procedure care following craniotomy, thrombectomy, aneurysm repair, AVM repair, carotid stenting, embolization, coiling, and flow-diverter procedures
• Recognize and respond to ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, and other acute neurological emergencies
• Manage ventilated patients, fresh tracheostomies, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP/CPAP, continuous sedation, neuromuscular blockade, and vasoactive infusions
• Perform or assist with arterial line and central line management, blood product administration, EKG acquisition, and dysrhythmia management
• Provide CRRT or CVVHD care for patients with acute or chronic renal failure
• Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, and emergency medication infusions according to clinical protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, rapid response, and other interdisciplinary support teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic while promoting patient safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based neurological care
