Registered Nurse Supervisor Job Details

• Location: Penn Yan, New York
• Healthcare Setting: Long-term care
• Schedule: Part-time nights, 2–3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour night shifts, approximately 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday availability required
• Contract Duration: Approximately 18 weeks
• Start Date: October 27, 2026
• End Date: February 27, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230
• Work Environment: On-site nursing leadership role

Registered Nurse Supervisor Job Requirements

• Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in a long-term care setting
• Prior supervisory or clinical leadership experience across multiple nursing units
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or RQI
• CPI certification within 90 days of hire
• Familiarity with New York State Department of Health requirements
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, analytical, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and respond professionally in stressful situations
• Ability to collaborate effectively with medical staff, department leaders, ancillary services, residents, and families
• Computer literacy and the ability to complete accurate written and electronic documentation
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Long-Term Care Nursing Supervisor Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of nursing units during assigned overnight shifts in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and support to nursing staff across multiple units
• Promote high-quality resident care through staff teaching, coaching, and role modeling
• Identify actual or potential unit concerns and communicate them to nursing leadership
• Collaborate with nursing leaders and department managers to resolve operational and clinical issues
• Make sound administrative decisions within the defined scope of responsibility when senior leadership is unavailable
• Escalate critical issues appropriately and ensure effective communication during shift transitions
• Support resident safety, dignity, respect, well-being, and a positive care environment
• Model professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and effective communication in all interactions
• Maintain compliance with applicable clinical, regulatory, and safety standards, including bloodborne pathogen precautions
