- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: 7:30 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4, with up to 1:5 for lower-acuity assignments
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
- Floating: Within specialty and to the ED border as needed
- On-Call: No scheduled on-call requirement
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license at the time of submission
- At least 3 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience
- Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers may be considered with 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Current CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-acuity emergency situations
- Flu vaccination required
Travel Emergency Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for patients of all ages and acuity levels
- Perform triage, focused assessments, reassessments, and timely escalation of changes in patient condition
- Care for patients experiencing chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, respiratory illness, respiratory arrest, behavioral health emergencies, and other acute conditions
- Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, and sedation in accordance with established protocols
- Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, BiPAP/CPAP, central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, vasopressors, and continuous sedation
- Assist with trauma response, airway management, intubation, cardiac arrest care, and other emergency procedures
- Use specialized equipment such as rapid infusers, mechanical CPR devices, trauma infusion equipment, and neonatal warming equipment
- Recognize and respond to medical, surgical, neurological, psychiatric, pediatric, and multisystem emergencies
- Document accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with providers, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Float within the specialty as needed and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered care environment
