Travel Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week Registered Nurse travel contract
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Location: Columbia, South Carolina
• Healthcare Setting: Adult cardiac stepdown and progressive care unit
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770–$1,870
• Nursing Schedule: Night shift; 12-hour shifts from approximately 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 Registered Nurse to 4 patients
• Unit Capacity: 22 beds with an average daily census of approximately 20 patients
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Orientation: 36 hours

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license and eligibility to practice in South Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or medical telemetry nursing experience; 2 years preferred
• At least 1 year of hands-on Epic EMR experience
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH certification or training
• Successful completion of medication and arrhythmia competency testing
• Proficiency with continuous telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and management of cardiac drips
• Ability to complete required pre-assignment testing, orientation, and annual learning modules
• Flexibility to float to other qualified units as needed while practicing within documented competencies

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a cardiac stepdown and medical telemetry setting
• Monitor patients with STEMI, NSTEMI, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, stroke, pacemaker placement, defibrillator placement, and post-ablation needs
• Perform continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring and accurately interpret dysrhythmias
• Administer medications, manage heparin protocols, and titrate cardiac drips according to established orders and protocols
• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization and other cardiac interventions
• Manage central lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, tracheostomies, PCA therapy, and related clinical equipment as indicated
• Administer blood products and maintain strict isolation, safety, and infection-prevention practices
• Complete patient assessments, care planning, documentation, medication administration, and discharge education in Epic
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, IV services, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions, including rapid response or code team activation when necessary
