Travel Nursing Job Details

• Scheduling Notes: Block scheduling is not available; requested time off must be submitted with the application, and no requested time off is permitted during the first week
• Floating: May float within the PCU and critical-care skill set among a network of five area hospitals based on staffing needs, including occasional ICU floating for downgraded PCU patients

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU or strong cardiac nursing experience, with experience within the past 12 months
• Active New Jersey or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; certifications must remain valid through the required compliance period
• Strong cardiac, telemetry, and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Successful completion of a dysrhythmia assessment during orientation; two attempts are permitted and completion is required within the designated timeframe
• Experience with electronic health records required; Epic experience preferred
• Ability to manage patients requiring telemetry, non-titrated cardiac drips, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, and rapid response intervention
• Ability to complete pre-employment laboratory requirements within 48 hours of signing
• Willingness to meet fit-testing and applicable vaccination requirements
• First-time travel nurses may be considered, although previous travel nursing experience is preferred

PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU and stepdown patients during night shifts
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias while escalating concerns to the interdisciplinary care team
• Administer medications and manage non-titrated cardiac infusions according to orders and clinical protocols
• Perform central-line and peripheral-line care, blood product administration, and ongoing patient assessments
• Provide oxygen therapy, nasal-cannula care, non-invasive airway support, and isolation precautions as indicated
• Respond effectively to rapid response and code situations within the scope of practice
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other members of the care team to support safe patient outcomes
• Float to designated facilities or ICU assignments when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality care
