PCU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Location: Ypsilanti, Michigan, in the greater Ann Arbor area
• Healthcare Setting: High-acuity surgical PCU/progressive care step-down unit
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 17, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Thanksgiving and one additional winter holiday
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 4:1, with occasional 3:1 assignments

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Michigan
• At least 1 year of recent PCU, Progressive Care Unit, progressive care, step-down, or comparable high-acuity nursing experience
• Experience caring for complex surgical or critical-care step-down patients
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work night shifts, every other weekend, Thanksgiving, and one additional winter holiday
• Epic electronic medical record experience preferred

PCU Travel RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity surgical step-down and progressive care patients
• Monitor patients closely, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Manage chest tubes, arterial lines, PICC lines, central lines, ostomies, tracheostomies, NG tubes, wound vacuums, and other surgical drains
• Administer and monitor complex IV infusions, including heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and Cardizem
• Perform medication administration, treatments, patient assessments, clinical documentation, and patient education in accordance with nursing standards
• Collaborate with providers, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Promote safe transitions of care and support patients and families throughout recovery
