Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Abilene, Texas
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,350-$2,470
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital Operating Room
• Shift Duration: 10-hour night shifts
• Schedule: Primarily Friday-Sunday weekend coverage; 36 or 40 hours per week available
• Shift Details: Night schedule with no call; exact schedule confirmed during the placement process
• Orientation: Approximately 40 hours
• Patient Assignment: One patient per nurse

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience
• Required experience with craniotomy and burr hole procedures
• Experience in neuro/spine, orthopedic trauma, general, robotic, or trauma surgery
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications strongly preferred or may be required based on assignment needs
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with Altera or Allscripts charting systems preferred, but not required
• Ability to complete required compliance documentation and laboratory items within the requested timeframe

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience
• Support neuro/spine, orthopedic trauma, general, robotic, and trauma procedures
• Care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• Demonstrate strong clinical proficiency with craniotomy and burr hole procedures
• Assist with a broad range of procedures, including spinal fusions, laminectomies, joint replacements, amputations, fracture repairs, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomies, and general surgery cases
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, surgical site protocols, and accurate clinical documentation
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary support teams
• Adapt effectively to a fast-paced operating room environment while maintaining attention to detail
