This 13-week night-shift nursing contract offers the opportunity to care for a diverse adult patient population in a high-acuity environment, with patients ranging from uncomplicated medical cases to sub-critical conditions, including post-surgical, cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, and transplant populations. - Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Shifts per Week: 3 shifts for a 36-hour schedule or 4 shifts for a 48-hour schedule
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680–$1,770
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner
- Orientation: 16 hours; orientation is held every other Thursday and Friday
- Floating: Within scope to like units as needed
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry experience
- Active West Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse license; pending licensure may be considered for submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Experience caring for adult patients requiring cardiac monitoring
- Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend
- Willingness to float within clinical scope
- Two manager or charge nurse references from the past two years
- Compliance with seasonal influenza vaccination requirements; documented medical exemptions may be considered
- Applicants should reside at least 100 miles from the assignment location; candidates residing 75–99 miles away may be considered for approval
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical telemetry patients with varying levels of acuity
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, assess changes in patient condition, and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Care for patients with cardiac conditions, chest pain, COPD, diabetes, post-surgical needs, neurological and orthopedic diagnoses, and transplant-related care needs
- Administer and titrate ordered therapies, including Cardizem, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and heparin drips, according to policy and scope of practice
- Perform central-line draws and provide care for patients with chest tubes and CPAP/BiPAP therapy
- Collaborate with monitor technicians, IV teams, providers, and other members of the healthcare team
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient responses in Cerner
- Prioritize care for a 1:5 assignment while promoting patient safety, patient education, and quality outcomes
