Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and Medical ICU
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Weekend Coverage: Approximately two weekends per month or every other weekend
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Unit Profile: High-acuity CVICU and medical ICU coverage with approximately 30 beds
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:1 in CVICU and 1:2–3 in ICU
- Floating: Required in accordance with experience and unit needs
CVICU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or a compact RN license
- At least 1 year of recent critical care nursing experience; CVICU experience strongly preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Successful completion of an EKG competency assessment before the start date
- Experience with electronic health record documentation; Cerner experience is preferred
- Demonstrated experience caring for patients with complex cardiovascular and multisystem conditions
- Ability to manage high-acuity patients, work 12-hour night shifts, float when needed, and meet weekend scheduling expectations
CVICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive critical care nursing for cardiovascular and medical ICU patients
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, arterial blood gases, hemodynamic data, and patient responses to treatment
- Manage patients receiving continuous IV sedation, cardiac drips, and vasoactive infusions
- Provide care for ventilated patients and manage BiPAP/CPAP therapy, airway suctioning, and isolation precautions
- Care for patients with conditions including STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, sepsis, and diabetic ketoacidosis
- Support patients receiving advanced therapies and interventions, including IABP, Impella, CRRT/CVVHD, and post-CABG or post-valve replacement care
- Perform arterial and central line care and management while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary support services
- Recognize changes in patient condition, initiate timely interventions, and participate in rapid response and emergency care
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic health record
- Promote safe, evidence-based care while working collaboratively with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, and other clinical partners
