NICU Registered Nurse (RN) travel contract in Hagerstown, Maryland for an experienced neonatal nurse ready to join a collaborative Level II Nursery team. NICU RN Travel Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,840–$1,940
• Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
• Healthcare Setting: Level II Nursery / NICU
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Assignment End Date: January 18, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, with some holiday coverage expected
• Patient Population: Neonates, including premature infants approximately 29–34 weeks gestation
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Call: Not required
• Floating: To the well-baby nursery within scope of practice

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in Maryland
• At least 1 year of recent NICU or Level II Nursery nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience caring for neonates, including premature infants and feeder-growers
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Epic electronic health record charting experience required
• Competency with neonatal assessments, feedings, breast milk handling, and isolation precautions
• Experience with central and implanted line care, UAC/UVC management, IV vasopressors, surfactants, steroids, and bubble CPAP
• Ability to float to the well-baby nursery and work effectively within a multidisciplinary neonatal care team
• Required COVID-19 and influenza vaccination with no exemptions

Neonatal Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to neonates in a Level II Nursery
• Monitor and manage premature infants, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and other neonatal conditions
• Support stabilization and preparation of infants requiring transport to a tertiary care center
• Administer medications, antibiotics, enteral feedings, phototherapy, and respiratory support according to established protocols
• Perform and document neonatal assessments, interventions, and responses in Epic
• Provide UAC, UVC, central line, and implanted line care while maintaining strict infection-prevention standards
• Assist with bottle, breast, and gavage feedings, including the safe handling of breast milk and pasteurized donor milk
• Collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the healthcare team
• Educate and support families while promoting safe newborn care and positive clinical outcomes
