This 13-week Registered Nurse (RN) assignment offers the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population with varying acuity, including post-surgical, cardiac, transplant, pulmonary, diabetic, and overflow patients. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse contract
- Location: Charleston, West Virginia 25301
- Start Date: October 29, 2026
- End Date: January 28, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680-$1,770
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; 48-hour contract options may be available
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Population: Adults
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
- Documentation: Cerner
- Orientation: 16 hours, with orientation held every other week
- Care Setting: Level I trauma center and major teaching environment
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or a compact state; pending license may be accepted for submission
- Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- At least 2 recent manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years
- Ability to float to comparable units within scope of practice
- Permanent residence generally must be at least 100 miles from the assignment; candidates residing 75-99 miles away may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Flu vaccination is required during flu season, except when supported by an approved medical exemption
Med-Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical telemetry patients with a broad range of acuity levels
- Care for patients with cardiac conditions, chest pain, COPD, diabetes, post-surgical needs, kidney transplant recovery, and overflow neurological or orthopedic diagnoses
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, verify telemetry, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Manage and monitor therapies including Cardizem, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and heparin infusions according to policy
- Perform central line draws and provide care for patients with chest tubes and noninvasive respiratory support, including CPAP and BiPAP
- Collaborate with providers, IV teams, monitor technicians, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate safe, effective treatment
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Cerner
- Float to like units as needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care
